A: Our data gets refreshed about once an hour.
A: We only collect and display data from games played on the most recent patch.
A: No, when a new patch comes out we wait until we have gathered a sufficient amount of data before we update the data displayed on the site.
A: We always make sure that every champion has a decently large number of games played. The number may vary from patch to patch, region to region, and mode to mode, but we do our best to make sure we update to the new patch as quickly as possible, while still maintaining the quality of data and statistics you have come to expect.
A: The tier list is created by doing a statistical analysis on the data that we collect. We assign a score to each champion based on several factors and then derive the tiers based on that score.
A: The factors taken into account for calculating the score are Win Rate, Ban Rate, Pick Rate, and KDA. We also weigh higher ranked game data more heavily. This means that a Diamond win is worth more than a Bronze win, for example.
A: The scores are calculated in such a way that ensures a rough Gaussian Distribution. We then place champions into tiers based on how many standard deviations above or below the mean their score is. For example, God tier is 3 standard deviations above the mean, while the Bad tier is 3 standard deviations below it
A: These ranges indicate what a champion's score needs to be in order to be in that tier.
A: Champions are placed in their tiers solely based on their calculated scores.
A: That's great! We are glad you are able to do well where others have failed, however, the scores are based on average stats, meaning if most people do not have great success with the champion it will be scored lower.
A: As you may have noticed, the Counter Picker has a very similar layout to the tier list. This is not a mistake, when you add champions to one of the teams we recalculate the factors used in creating the champion scores based on Win Rates against the enemies and with the teamates, and then generate a new tier list based on that score.
A: As we gather game data we store all information regarding champion Win Rates against each other as well as Win Rates when grouped with each other. We use these Win Rates, as well as the champion's base Win Rate to calculate the new Win Rate.
A: Take a look at the champion's page as well as the enemy and ally champion pages, you will see that some champions are very strong counters to others, or synergize extremely well with some allies, this can drastically alter a champion's score.
A: The numbers below spells are the champion's winrate with that item. That is to say if a champion buys an item on the list, they win that often.
A: We choose the top items based on how often people who win their games on that champion buy the item or choose the spell. We exclude intermediate items, Doran's items, and consumables.
A: That's great! We are glad you have found something that works well for you, however, we base which items are on the list off of what the majority of players who do well on the champion buy. Your item not being there simply means it is not a very common build, or others are not very successful with it.
A: That number represents how much higher or lower than 50% the champion's winrate is when against, or teamed with the other champion. We use 50% as the base because in a perfectly balanced game, all champions should have a 50% winrate against each other.
A: The data for the Global site is the combined data for all of the regions we currently support.
